Inga Sampé wins Form +1 Award!
Soutěže
This year's winner of Form +1 Award is the French designer Inga Sempé with the lamp w153 for the Swedish producer Wästberg. The award was presented at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair by last year's winners Färg & Blanche together with Form Magazine's Editor-in-chief Bo Madestrand.
That Färg & Blanche chose to give Form +1 Award to Inga Sempé feels incredibly refreshing. Partly because it's so rare that the prize goes to a woman, but especially because Inga Sempé is so talented when it comes to materials, so humorous and clever as a designer, says Bo Madestrand, Editor-in-chief, Form Magazine.
Form +1 Award goes to the best news at the furniture fair. The award is a purely honorary award, but also the responsible task to choose next year's winner. Last year, the duo Färg & Blanche won with the chair Layer.
Färg & Blanche, last year's winner and the 2015 jury: Inga Sempé has the ability to create objects and furniture with that little extra that gives poetry to everyday life. We think that lamp w153 is a perfect symbol of Inga's work. It is a small object that has a great added value. Inga has also worked extensively with various Swedish companies and her idiom has a natural place here.
w153
The lamp w153 is developed by Inga Sempé in close collaboration with the producing company Wästberg. It is a multifunctional lamp that can be clamped, placed on a flat surface or mounted on a vertical surface. The lamp has an adjustable screen with magnet design that ensures smooth motion.
How the designer herself describes the lamp:
- As with the flap chairs, in comparison with regular chairs, clamp lamps do not have the same status as regular lamps. It seems a little unfair, then clamp lamps are very useful. It could possibly be due to its limited field of use or the fact that when they are not attached, they remind us a little about an old sick man who can not stand up without falling over.
Form +1 Award
The award was established in 2002, when the architecture magazine Forum had yet to merge with Form, and Mark Isitt was the editor in chief. The idea was to create an intimate and personal award, where one absolute judge stood completely behind the nomination. Designer Björn Dahlström was the first judge in 2002. Since then, Form +1 Award has grown in reputation and become a regular and popular feature at Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair.
