MĚSÍC OTEVŘENÝCH DVEŘÍ KNIHOVNY
Výstavy
Na měsíc duben 2010 připravila Langhans Galerie Praha mimořádnou akci, při které se výstavní prostory změní ve velkou čítárnu zahraničních publikací a periodik o současné fotografii. Měsíc knihovny bude doplněn o prezentaci autorských knih studentů českých vysokých škol zaměřených na fotografii.

Unikátnost Langhans knihovny spočívá v tom, že na území ČR pravděpodobně nenajdeme takto specializovanou, veřejnosti přístupnou knihovnu zaměřenou na zahraniční produkci publikací a periodik věnujících se fotografii a příbuzným formám umění, zvláště pak se zaměřením na aktuální dění v oboru.
Běžně je tato prezenční knihovna přístupná v rámci návštěvy výstav, tzn. po zaplacení vstupného na výstavu nebo na základě abonentské karty.
Při této výjimečné akci Měsíce otevřených dveří budou publikace a periodika rozmístěné podle oddílů ve dvou patrech na přibližně 25 stolech. Vznikne tak rozsáhlá čítárna bezmála 500 publikací, kterými je možné jak volně listovat, tak si v jednotlivých publikacích samostatně studovat.
V rámci akce budou návštěvníci požádáni o vyplnění dotazníku. Zjištěné údaje budou použity pro směřování dalšího rozvoje knihovního fondu a návštěvních podmínek.
Z přízemí Langhans Galerie Praha bude vytvořen promítací sál, kde budou prezentovány autorské knihy studentů fotografických škol. Naší výzvu přijali fotografické ateliéry pražské VŠUP a FAMU, University J. E. Purkyně v Ústí nad Labem a Univerzity Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně.
Autorské knihy vznikají často v jednom nebo několika málo exemplářích a jsou tedy velmi obtížně sdělitelné širší veřejnosti. Jde často nikoliv o makety hypoteticky standardně vydané publikace, ale o svébytné umělecké dílo. Knihy či objekty budou prezentovány formou videozáznamů, které připravili studenti, často doplněné vlastními komentáři. Projekce trvá 80 minut.
Akce MĚSÍC OTEVŘENÝCH DVEŘÍ KNIHOVNY LANGHANS GALERIE PRAHA je přístupná zdarma.
K této akci se vernisáž nekoná.
Příští výstava EGO - portrét vs. fotografie, kurátorů Pavla Turka a Roberta V. Nováka, je zaměřená na hledání podoby a konstruování vlastní identity (od 26. května).

OPEN HOUSE AT THE LIBRARY
OF LANGHANS GALLERY PRAGUE
A presentation of photographic books from all over the world and a screening of documentary footage featuring photo books made by photography schools students. Free admission.

Langhans Gallery Prague prepared an exceptional event for the month of April 2010, during the month the exhibition rooms will change into a large reading room of foreign contemporary photography books and magazines.
During the Open House, there will also be a complementary presentation of student books made by students of Czech photography schools.
The Langhans Library occupies a unique position as it is probably the only specialized library to be found in the Czech Republic focusing on photography books and magazines and similar forms of art that is open to the public, in particular it specializes in the latest developments in photography.
As a rule, visitors can borrow the books in the library reading room during exhibitions, i.e. after they pay the admission fee, or they have to present their subscription card.
In the course of this exceptional event, the books and magazines will be presented according to library sections on two gallery floors on 25 tables. This will turn the gallery into a large reading room presenting almost 500 publications, the visitors will be free to browse through and study the individual books.
During the Open House Month, our visitors will be asked to complete a list of questions. The obtained information will help the gallery further focus the development of the library collection and visitors' experience.
The ground floor of the Langhans Gallery Prague will change into a screening room presenting books by students of several photography schools. The following schools responded to our invitation: studios of photography at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the University of J.E.Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem and Tomas Bata University in Zlín.
Student books are often made out only in one or a few copies; this makes their presentation to the public very difficult. Very often, the books are not just models that might be, hypothetically, published in a standard way; they are original works of art. The books or objects will be presented in videos made by students, who have also accompanied some of the videos with their own commentary. Duration: 80 minutes.
There is free admission during the OPEN HOUSE AT THE LIBRARY OF LANGHANS GALLERY PRAGUE.
There will be no vernissage.
The upcoming exhibition entitled EGO - Portrait vs. Photography prepared by curators Pavel Turek and Robert V. Novák will examine pursuance and construction of one's own identity (opens on 26th May).
