Worldwide Packaging Design Competition
The Pentawards, the most prestigious worldwide competition exclusively devoted to packaging design, has announced that its hotly anticipated Gala Ceremony will be held at the Guggenheim Museum in New York on 6th September 2018.
Created in January 2007, the Pentawards are recognised as the most prestigious worldwide competition exclusively devoted to packaging design. They are open to all those who are associated with the creation or marketing of packaging from every country in the world. The primary mission is to increase the stature of packaging design and those who create it.
Each year, packaging from around the world is judged by an international jury of 12 highly respected designers and packaging design Directors from major companies. The jury selects the winners based on the creative quality and the marketing relevance of the works presented. Winners receive bronze, silver, gold, platinum and diamond Pentawards.
No less than 55 different categories allow any type of packaging to compete and be judged against similar creations. This means that a bottle of wine is not evaluated next to a beer, washing powder next to gardening materials, or even a bottle of perfume next to make-up.
Each year, trophies are awarded in a different city in Europe, Asia or the Americas, at an official ceremony which hosts hundreds of designers from around the world, and provides a unique opportunity to meet and exchange ideas.
By participating in the Pentawards, packaging designers, design students, brand-owners and packaging producers have the opportunity to compare their creations to those from around the world, and have the opportunity to win a prestigious award that allows them to show the world their creativity and expertise.
In addition, the Pentawards provides them with an opportunity to strengthen the reputation of their profession.

Conditions
Pentawards is a worldwide competition with entries accepted internationally. All works presented must have been created or produced (launched) since 1 January 2017, in any country whatever. A physical package must be available (produced) before 1 June 2018.
Unpublished prototypes and speculative or unpublished creations are not accepted (expect for ConceptT categories).
By entering the competition the candidates assign to Pentawards the publication rights for the works submitted, in whatever form: real, printed, televisual or digital, including on the Internet and the future book "The Package Design Book" for which they agree to paid €125 for technical fee by winning design published. The candidates agree to take responsibility for any claims made against Pentawards – and/or its affiliated companies – in the event of disputes or litigation with possible claimants or others. Pentawards cannot be held responsible for any problem of reproduction and/or designation of the works.
Admission fees are not refundable once the application has been accepted. When dispatch of the actual works is required, the candidates must pay all transport costs and taxes beforehand.
Works which are considered to be plagiarisms or which are morally or ethically questionable and/or offensive – whether intentionally or not – will be disqualified either before the verdict or after if necessary. This also applies to works which might turn out to be fictitious (expect for Concept categories).
Pentawards reserves the right to demand proof of the actual existence and/or publication of the works presented. Candidates will have 15 days to comply.
If Pentawards does not receive the proof requested, the registration will be disqualified. The works received will not be returned, except at the express request and expense of the participants.
The decisions of the jury will be final.
All entries are to kept confidential until the Pentawards Trophy Ceremony.
The non-compliance with conditions of participation may result in disqualification.
Entering
All communication between Pentawards and the candidates must take place in English.
Applications are accepted on line only. The candidates must follow the instructions given on the entry page. For each piece of work submitted they must complete the obligatory boxes correctly, upload a photo (or digital renders) of their work and pay the entry fee by means of a credit card. It is possible to submit several pieces of work in a single operation with one payment.
The uploaded displays must comply with the specified minimum and maximum technical values, to avoid the risk of disqualification.
Payment of entry fees can only be carried out by credit card or Paypal and in euro (€).
Pentawards reserves the right to request the winners to send them the award-winning packaging. The winners undertake to forward these packaging, properly protected, with no perishable or dangerous contents, at their own expense (transport and taxes) to the head-office of Pentawards in London (UK). The consignments must specify in English: Materials for contest entry – No commercial value. Not for sale - Pentawards will not be liable for any costs or customs charges.
If Pentawards does not receive the proof requested, the registration will be disqualified. The works received will not be returned, except at the express request (demand to do no later than July 2nd, 2018) and expense of the participants.
What will the winners receive?
Diamond Pentaward
The winner of the sole and unique Diamond Pentaward, Best of the Show, will get:
* A personal invitation to attend, free of charge, the official Pentawards Ceremony and the cocktail party/dinner that will follow.
* The superb and unique “Diamond Trophy”
* An official certificate
*The winning design will be presented in the Pentawards World Tour. The tour will be exclusively featured at ADF&PCD and Packaging Innovations exhibitions worldwide.
The Diamond Pentaward winner will receive, in addition to his trophy, a multi-year license to the amazing Esko 3D Packaging Design software (value: over 5.000,- Euro).
Platinum Pentawards
Each of the winners of the 5 Platinum Pentawards, Best of the 5 major categories (Beverages, Food, Body, Other markets & Luxury) will get:
* A personal invitation to attend, free of charge, the official Pentawards Ceremony and the cocktail party/dinner that will follow.
* A “Platinum Trophy”
* An official certificate
*The winning designs will be presented in the Pentawards World Tour. The tour will be exclusively featured at ADF&PCD and Packaging Innovations exhibitions worldwide.
Gold Pentawards
* A “Gold Trophy”
* An official certificate
If they are not able to attend on that evening, they can order (purchase) their trophy from the Pentawards site. The certificate will be sent to them free of charge.
Silver Pentawards
* A “Silver Trophy”
* An official certificate
If they are not able to attend on that evening, they can order (purchase) their trophy from the Pentawards site. The certificate will be sent to them free of charge.
Bronze Pentawards
* A “Bronze Trophy”
* An official certificate
If they are not able to attend on that evening, they can order (purchase) their trophy from the Pentawards site. The certificate will be sent to them free of charge.
Nominations
* An official certificate will be sent to them free of charge.
All winners will be presented on the Pentawards site with a link to their respective sites.
All winners of the Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Pentawards will be featured in “The Package Design Book #5” which will be published by TASCHEN and be available as of November 2018 (TBC) (technical fee contribution of €125 by winning design)
Use of the Pentawards logo
Pentawards is a registered trademark. Pentawards grants the media and winners permission to use the official logo of Pentawards for all printed or digital communication in all forms. Nevertheless, no change may be made to the logo, to the Pentawards trademark and colours as they appear on the official Pentawards site.
Pentawards, registered trademark, reserves the right to withdraw these privileges, if the logo is used inappropriately.
